Long Hauls and Blood Clots

Truck drivers sitting for long periods on long hauls may be susceptible to developing blood clots in their legs, according to Dr. Robert McBane of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Dubbed “economy class syndrome” because of its reported occurrence among airline passengers immobilized on long flights, the condition is potentially fatal. In fact, British Airways and two airlines in Australia routinely warn passengers about the danger of developing blood clots from sitting too long and not moving around on long flights.
