Amerit Fleet Solutions will provide service and maintenance for commercial fleet customers of U.S.-based electric vehicle manufacturer Lordstown Motors, the companies said April 18.
Production of the Lordstown, Ohio-based commercial vehicle specialist’s Endurance model at an assembly plant in its home state restarted earlier in April after a pause to address “supplier quality issues” in February, the company said.
Production originally began in the third quarter of 2022 at the Foxconn EV Ohio facility.
“Amerit is a perfect fit with Lordstown because it is a well-established service provider to the fleet and commercial industry with experience in the service and maintenance of EVs,” said Edward Hightower, Lordstown CEO.
The deal will extend to future vehicles developed by Lordstown in collaboration with Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn’s EV ecosystem, it added. Foxconn in November 2022 committed to investing as much as $170 million in the struggling U.S. EV startup. — Transport Topics
