Marmon-Herrington released its third-generation Safe Shift all-wheel drive protection system for commercial vehicles.
Safe Shift is a proprietary electronic control system that prevents damage to axle, driveline and transfer case components commonly caused by improper operation. New features include an easier-to-use liquid crystal display driver interface, simpler installation, power takeoff protection and the potential to run at faster baud rates for future system advancements, according to the Louisville, Ky.-based company.
“By removing the possibility of accidental shifts or the consequences of an inexperienced operator, Safe Shift helps fleets protect their investment,” said Rick Blair, president, Marmon-Herrington OEM, in a statement.
Safe Shift is included as a standard option with all Marmon-Herrington AWD conversions. Marmon-Herrington also will offer Safe Shift as a factory option for all major truck manufacturers.
Marmon-Herrington is a unit of Marmon Highway Technologies, which is a Berkshire Hathaway company.
