Marten Transport’s first-quarter profit rose 5.2%, its fourth straight quarter of higher year-over-year profitability, on improved performance in its truckload and logistics sectors.
Net income rose to $4.1 million, or 19 cents per share, from $3.9 million, or 18 cents, a year ago, the company said late Tuesday.
Revenue rose to $137.9 million from $125.8 million, while revenue net of fuel surcharges increased 3.7% to $112.5 million.
Truckload operating income rose to $5.32 million, from $5.23 million, while revenue including fuel surcharges rose to $104.1 million, from $96.2 million.
Logistics operating income rose to $2.29 million from $1.81 million, while revenue including fuel surcharges rose to $33.8 million, from $29.6 million.
Marten Transport is ranked No. 39 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
