Gary Weilheimer and Tom Tranovich, who have more than 40 years combined transportation experience, said they are opening linked non-asset-based businesses to serve the logistics industry.
Weilheimer formed Medallion Transportation & Logistics, while Tranovich created Transport Financial Services to offer financial and strategic backing to Medallion and other businesses.
Medallion, as a non-asset-based business based in Mooresville, N.C., will offer truckload, brokerage and intermodal services in conjunction with owner-operators.
Tranovich built American Trans-Freight Inc. and American Crest Capital into a $135 million business that was sold to a private equity concern, according to a statement from Medallion. Weilheimer joined American Trans-Freight in 1998 and remained with the firm until after the sale.
Weilheimer was an executive at Greatwide Logistics until 2007.
In a joint statement, Weilheimer and Tranovich said, “We plan to fill the need in the marketplace for a top quality transportation company that is financially secure.”
