Melissa Dixon Will Lead N.D. Motor Carriers Association
The North Dakota Motor Carriers Association elected Melissa Dixon as president, the first woman to serve in that role.
Dixon, the president of Dixon Insurance Inc., has been active in the state organization for 20 years and previously held leadership positions.
“It is an honor to serve in this position,” Dixon said of NDMCA. “My goal is to help grow the organization while educating the public on the importance of the motor carrier industry.”
A spokeswoman from Dixon Insurance said Dixon will continue to serve as president of the company, which is based in Fargo, N.D., and specializes in truck licensing. There, she offers consultation to partners in the trucking and brokerage industry. Dixon also works on risk management issues and addresses tax needs for clients of sister company Interstate Truck Licensing.
In a statement from the summer issue of Rolling Along, NDMCA’s quarterly magazine, Dixon listed membership growth as one of her chief priorities, saying there is strength in numbers.
“The more motor carrier members we serve, the more benefits we can provide, and the more strength we will have as we lobby for industry-responsive truck and safety regulations within our local, state and federal legislatures,” Dixon said.
“We are very excited about Melissa’s term as president as she is a dynamic leader with a wealth of experience in trucking,” NDMCA Executive Vice President Arik Spencer said in Rolling Along.
Her experience extends beyond the trucking industry. She has served as president of the Association of Transportation Law Professionals, the Fargo-Moorhead Transportation Club and the Independent Insurance Agents of North Dakota, according to NDMCA.
Dixon replaces Mark Wolter, who served as president for two years.
