Flatbed carrier Melton Truck Lines Inc. is adding 200 53-foot stepdeck trailers to its fleet to meet a broader range of customer needs, according to the company.
All 200 trailers will be integrated into its fleet within the next 60 days, Melton said in March.
The all-aluminum trailers are able to carry a 48,000-pound payload, Melton said. They have sliding tandem axles and are designed to travel all of the United States, including California, plus Canada and Mexico.
“These stepdeck trailers will benefit many of our customers that ship commodities that are too large to fit on a standard flatbed trailer,” Dan Taylor, senior vice president of sales, said in a statement.
Melton Truck Lines, which is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ranks No. 87 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
