Mesilla Valley Transportation will begin using VeloCare, a technology-monitoring and repair service by Velociti Inc.
At MVT, VeloCare will support 5,000 trailers with GPS tracking and automatic tire inflation systems, as well as in-cab video, electronic logging devices and tablets on 1,500 trucks, the companies announced Dec. 11.

Mandatory regulatory compliance along with rapidly growing dependence on critical onboard technologies means system failures are no longer a “fix it when you can” situation, the companies said.
The adoption of VeloCare also will ensure technology maintenance and management is guaranteed and costs are predictable, MVT officials said.
VeloCare is offered as a flat monthly-based subscription for fleet and facility technologies that includes program and project management; system troubleshooting via a technical support call center; and inventory management.
The sooner new technology purchases are deployed, the sooner returns on investment are realized, Velociti President Deryk Powell said.
MVT, based in Las Cruces, N.M., is a dry-freight carrier specializing in time-sensitive service among manufacturing centers in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Velociti is based in Riverside, Mo.
Mesilla Valley Transportation, which has a fleet of more than 1,500 trucks and 5,000 trailers, ranks No. 79 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America. — Transport Topics
