Mexican Officials Fail to Appear at Nafta Conference

SAN ANTONIO — An international conference here aimed at sorting out the complex regulatory details of cross-border trucking was disrupted but went on after Mexican officials scheduled to talk on customs and immigration failed to appear.

Other Mexican officials at the weeklong North American Free Trade Agreement land transportation conference did not explain why the scheduled speakers didn’t show up.

U.S. conference attendees were particularly exasperated. They said figuring out how to clear U.S. freight through Mexican Customs is critical to doing business there.
