Michelin Americas Truck Tires introduced the X One Energy T for trailers, and the company marked its 2 millionth sale of its X One wide-base single tire.
The introduction of the trailer tire for linehaul service was accompanied by the rollout of the Energy T pre-mold retread, which the company displayed here at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
Michelin said the X One tire line, introduced in 2001, has produced 10% fuel efficiency as well as 740 pounds of weight savings.
“Since the introduction of the X One, Michelin has led in the wide-base single category with tires and retreads for every application, many on their second or third generation,” said Ted Becker, vice president of marketing for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “The adoption of the X One technology has accelerated because of the fuel and weight savings it brings to our customers.”
Michelin also said its advanced casing technology on the Energy T reduces irregular wear and offers more consistent contact with the road. In total, the X One line includes 14 types of tires, including eight retreads, for a broad variety of services.
