Michigan, Canada to Build New Detroit Bridge

Michigan and Canada have agreed to build a second bridge linking Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, Bloomberg reported Friday.

The New International Trade Crossing will join the existing Ambassador Bridge that currently connects the two cities.

The new $2.1 billion bridge will be designed, built, operated and maintained by Canada, The Detroit News reported.

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder said the project will be built at no cost to the state, Bloomberg said.

Currently, one-fourth of the truck commerce between the U.S. and Canada crosses over the Ambassador Bridge, Bloomberg reported, citing the Public Border Operators Association.
