Moran Transportation has acquired Ohio-based RMX Freight Systems, a regional less-than-truckload carrier, as part of an expansion into Ohio and parts of West Virginia.

The acquisition brings 50 to 60 trucks and three service centers into Moran’s operations, increasing its total to 12 service centers and more than 675 pieces of equipment across the Midwest.

“Acquiring RMX Freight Systems Inc. aligns perfectly with our growth strategy and commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers,” said Mike Moran, president of Moran Transportation. “We are excited to welcome their talented workforce into our family and leverage their expertise to improve our operational capabilities and customer service.”

RMX Freight Systems has established itself as a reliable LTL carrier in the region, Moran said, known for efficient and consistent service. By incorporating RMX’s infrastructure, Moran aims to bolster its ability to provide reliable, regionally focused services to customers.

The integration process was set to begin Nov. 11.

Founded in 1980, Moran Transportation began as a small cartage company operating five trucks within a 30-mile radius of Chicago. Over the past four decades, the company has grown into one of the Midwest’s regional LTL providers, serving Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri and Minnesota. Its Elk Grove Village, Ill., headquarters also serves as its Midwest sort center.

The company has steadily expanded its network and fleet since rebranding in 1985.
