Navistar Acquires Engine Parts Business

Navistar Inc. said that it has acquired certain assets of Continental Diesel Systems US.

Navistar will establish a research and development facility for the diesel systems assets, for which it will create a new business unit, Pure Power Technologies, the truck and engine maker said in a statement Monday.

Pure Power Technologies will manufacture fuel injection components of Navistar’s MaxxForce diesel engines. It will also serve as an “incubator” for technology related to MaxxForce engines, Navistar said.

The unit will keep its Columbia, S.C., headquarters, as well as its Blythewood, S.C., manufacturing plant, both of which Continental planned to close, Navistar said. The new research and development facility will also be located in Columbia.
