Navistar Opens New Proving Grounds in Indiana
Truck and engine maker Navistar Inc. has opened a new test site for its vehicles in New Carlisle, Indiana.
The new Navistar Proving Grounds is a 668-acre site that includes a 3-mile paved and banked oval with several additional capabilities, such as brake and durability testing.
“The new Navistar Proving Grounds is a strategic addition to our product development operations and will play an important role in our mission to deliver industry-leading uptime for our customers,” said Bill Kozek, president of Navistar’s truck and parts business. “Beyond testing our latest vehicles and innovative technologies, we will also use the site as a customer center to showcase new products and give customers an opportunity to experience our vehicles firsthand.”
Navistar said it recently purchased the site from Robert Bosch LLC.
The testing grounds are located about 90 miles from Navistar’s headquarters in Lisle, Illinois.
The site’s close proximity will complement Navistar’s validation center in Melrose Park, Illinois, and enable the company to manage test capabilities in-house.
