Navistar Recalling 2,600 ProStars
Navistar International Corp. has issued a recall for about 2,600 ProStar tractors to correct a rear-chassis skirt support that may rub against the fuel tank, potentially causing holes in the tank.
The recall is for certain model year 2013-2014 ProStars that were manufactured from Dec. 12, 2012, through Aug. 8, 2013, according to a recall notice posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
The recall will begin by Jan. 20. Navistar said it will notify owners and dealers, and will reinstall the chassis skirt with proper clearance. The truck maker also will replace the fuel tank, if necessary.
“Navistar is making every effort to ensure the safety of our vehicles and is cooperating fully with NHTSA throughout the recall process,” company spokeswoman Elissa Maurer said.
“This is a voluntary measure, and there have been no incidents in the field. The company is notifying customers, and dealers will inspect vehicles and conduct any needed repairs,” she said in a statement.
