Navistar Inc. said Feb. 15 it has signed a contract to make 15 of its new HX Series heavy-duty International trucks for RLJ Thompson Trucking of Concord, Virginia.

The original equipment manufacturer unveiled the severe-service HX line at the start of the month in Las Vegas at the World of Concrete conference.

Thompson serves industrial and municipal customers, mainly from South Carolina to Maryland, and hauls aggregates, industrial recycling and waste and disposal loads.

“We already have orders for more than 300 trucks and that number is growing by the day,” said Jeff Sass, Navistar senior vice president for sales and marketing. “Each of the four models in the series has been engineered to deliver unmatched performance for the most punishing job sites while also making operators more productive.”

Carrier President Ricky Thompson said he ordered the HX trucks because “we are excited about the bold design that offers a sturdy, yet lightweight truck powered by the [Cummins] ISX [15] engine.”
