Navteq Updates Database on Traffic Patterns

Digital map provider Navteq said it has released version 3.0 of its Traffic Patterns North America database.

The latest version includes a “significantly updated” historic database that provides data on typical traffic speeds on about 1 million miles of roads in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, Chicago-based Navteq said.

The inclusion of Puerto Rican and Canadian road data is a first for the database, Navteq said.

Its Traffic Patterns database is geared toward software development companies, which can import Navteq’s data into their own routing applications.
