New Foreign-Trade Zone Warehouse to Open Near Port of Jacksonville
North Florida Warehouse FTZ, a division of JZ Expedited Cos., has been granted permission to operate an outdoor foreign-trade zone for the Port of Jacksonville.
Foreign-trade zones are secured storage areas near ports where international cargo is stored and examined by the U.S. Customers and Border Protection before being assessed a tariff to officially enter the United States or, in some cases, export out of the country.
The 3.7-acre facility, located minutes from JAXPORT, will store cargo such as vehicles, high and heavy, tracked units, project and over-dimensional cargo, containers and break-bulk.
The federal foreign-trade zone program helps importers manage cash flow and save a significant amount of money through streamlined U.S. Customs clearance and other efficiencies.
“Options are the name of the game,” said Lisa Diaz, the port’s manager of foreign-trade zones and logistics services. “The ability to offer FTZ outdoor storage to our importers for the first time is a great selling point.”
“We pride ourselves on providing what our customers need most and this outdoor FTZ facility fits the bill,” said Robert Fox, CEO of JZ Expedited Cos.
The facility is adjacent to the JZ Expedited’s 32,000-square-foot North Jacksonville warehouse, which also operates within the same foreign-trade zone.
