New York Lowers Thruway Fuel Prices

Gov. George E. Pataki ordered the price of diesel fuel and gasoline sold on the New York Thruway to be cut by a nickel for the summer driving season.

The Thruway Authority eliminated the 5-cents-per-gallon lease fees it charges to service stations at the 27 travel centers on the nation’s longest toll road. The authority also ordered the service stations to pass the savings along to customers.

The fuel discounts, part of New York’s “100 Days of Summer Travel” program, began May 24 and will end Sept. 19.
