N.J.-Pa. Bridge to Get Express Tolling

The Betsy Ross Bridge between New Jersey and Pennsylvania will become the first in the Philadelphia area with express E-ZPass lanes, the Associated Press reported.

The Delaware River Port Authority on Aug. 19 approved spending about $350,000 to design the lanes on the bridge that spans the Delaware River, AP said.

Drivers would be able to travel at 45 mph while their transponders pay their tolls, and the system could be ready for traffic in about a year, AP reported.

The bridge is the newest and least-used of the four connecting Pennsylvania and New Jersey in the Philadelphia area, AP said.

The DRPA said the Commodore Barry Bridge, between Bridgeport, N.J., and Chester, Pa., soon may get the express lanes, AP reported.
