Norfolk Southern’s Profit Drops

Norfolk Southern Corp. said its second-quarter profit dropped 11%, and income from railway operations fell 10% to $836 million.

Net income dropped to $465 million, or $1.46 per share, from $524 million, or $1.60, a year ago.

Revenue fell 3% to $2.8 billion, the eastern U.S. freight railroad said.

Intermodal revenue rose 4% to $588 million.
