ERoad, a supplier of electronic logging devices, said it has hired industry veteran Norm Ellis as its president.
Ellis, who reports to CEO Steven Newman, will lead ERoad’s management team in North America as the company prepares to meet the market demand for ELDs created by the federal government’s mandate of the technology.
To comply with the regulation, nearly all truck drivers currently required to record their duty status on paper logbooks will need to transition to electronic logs by Dec. 18.
“This is a very exciting time to be taking on a leadership role in ERoad’s North American business and helping shape its future,” Ellis said.
Ellis joins ERoad from trailer tracking firm I.D. Systems Inc., where he was chief operating officer.
Previously, he held sales and marketing roles at fleet telematics provider Omnitracs during a 16-year tenure at the firm, previously known as Qualcomm Enterprise Services.
ERoad’s ELD system, available through a monthly subscription, uses a touch screen display to enable drivers to view, edit and present record of duty status during roadside inspections. The company also offers electronic tax reporting and fleet management features.
