Alabama Grand Champion David Hawk Paces FedEx Freight
David Hawk is taking his driving skills from Pelham to Pittsburgh.
The FedEx Freight driver racked up 365 points in winning the 3-Axle competition and clinching Grand Champion honors in the Alabama Truck Driving Championships May 31-June 1 at the Pelham Civic Complex.
Hawk cleared his closest challenger by 50 points in securing his trip to the National Truck Driving Championships in August.
Hawk’s victory paced a parade of five winners by FedEx Freight. AAA Cooper Transportation had two winning drivers, and UPS Freight and YRC Freight one each.

2019 Preview
Will big wheels keep on turning for Alabama’s defending Grand Champion? That is what an estimated field of 120 competitors will find out when the Alabama Truck Driving Championships are held May 31 in Pelham.
Mark Knight of AAA Cooper Transportation will be back to defend his Grand Champion title and will compete in the Twins class. He won the 5-Axle division last year on the way to taking top honors and earning a trip to the National Truck Driving Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
When: May 31, 2019
Where: Pelham Civic Complex, Pelham, Ala. Field: More than 150 truck drivers are expected to compete in nine categories.

Knight
Reigning Alabama Truck Driving Championship winner Mark Knight of AAA Cooper Transportation, competing in the 5-axle division, captured the Grand Champion crown for the second consecutive year.
The Alabama team has enjoyed several good showings in past years and will look for another solid competition at the 2019 National Truck Driving Championships in Pittsburgh on Aug. 14-17.
Alphonso Lewis of YRC Freight will advance to nationals in the 3-axle division. Lewis was crowned NTDC Grand Champion in 2007.
