NTE Name Change Reflects Broader Focus for Exchange

The company formerly known as National Transportation Exchange is now NTE and will offer online logistics services in addition to its online freight exchange service.

NTE President James K. Davidson said the name change came about because the firm is no longer just national and it is no longer only an exchange.

The Downers Grove, Ill., company’s exchange consists of 200 shippers and 400 carriers. The company plans to increase both the number of members and the number of transactions completed on the site.

But drastic changes in the load matching business — including the advent of numerous exchanges, marketplaces and online freight brokers — have forced NTE to offer more sophisticated transportation management services.
