LAS VEGAS — The National Tank Truck Carriers announced plans for President Cliff Harvison to retire at the end of 2005 after 32 years at the helm, and for current Vice President John Conley to then fill the top post.

The announcement came during the membership meeting of the association’s annual conference on May 12, and sets in motion a lengthy transition until Conley takes over as president effective Jan. 1, 2006.

Harvison told Transport Topics he was announcing his departure during a good time for the tank truck industry and the association, with “the most positive business environment I’ve seen in five years.”

Conley said that being designated to become NTTC president was “obviously a great honor. This is the hardest-working, best part of the trucking industry. I’m very fortunate they have given me this opportunity.”
