President Obama has sent nomination papers to the Senate for two Department of Transportation officials who have been serving as acting heads in leadership posts at the department.

On May 15, Obama nominated Victor Mendez to be the department’s deputy secretary, a job he has been doing since the former deputy, John Porcari, left in December.

Until he was named acting deputy, Mendez was head of the Federal Highway Administration.

Obama also nominated Peter Rogoff to be the department’s under secretary for policy. Rogoff was named the acting under secretary after Polly Trottenberg left in January.

Before being named to the acting post, Rogoff was head of the Federal Transit Administration.
