Obama’s Jobs Plan Likely to Include Infrastructure Spending for Roads, Bridges

President Obama hinted that a jobs plan to be unveiled Thursday will include infrastructure elements to repair and rebuild roads and bridges, in a bid to put people back to work and boost the economy, the Detroit News reported.

The president, who gave a Labor Day speech in Detroit to thousands of workers, said he would disclose more details in Thursday’s speech before Congress, the paper reported.

“We’ve got roads and bridges across the country that need rebuilding,” Obama said in his speech.

“We’ve got private companies with equipment and manpower [and] more than 1 million unemployed construction workers ready to get dirty. There is work to be done and workers to do it. We just need Congress to get on board,” the president said.

Obama will address a joint session of Congress Thursday night at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
