Old Dominion’s 4Q Income Dips

Old Dominion Freight Line’s fourth-quarter profit fell to $9.7 million, or 26 cents per share, from $11 million, or 30 cents, a year ago.

Revenue fell 7.4% to $310.9 million, the company said Thursday.

Its year-over-year tonnage improved slightly in December, which was the first month of 2009 without a decline, ODFL said in a statement.

For the full year, the company earned $34.9 million, or 94 cents a share, from $68.7 million, or $1.84, the previous year. Revenue fell 19% to $1.25 billion.
