Online Logistics Firm Hires Big Gun from Schneider

Logistics.com served notice to carriers and shippers by hiring Schneider National’s former chief operating officer as its president, that it plans for its software products to dominate the digital transportation market.

With the March 7 appointment of John P. Lanigan Jr., the Internet-based transportation service provider brought in a solid manager with 16 years of experience as an executive with one of the nation’s largest carriers and logistics providers. Lanigan built Schneider’s $350 million logistics arm, and was critical in making Schneider the logistics provider of choice for vertical Internet marketplaces such as Plasticsnet.com and iMark.com.

As president and chief operating officer, Lanigan, 44, will report to Yossi Sheffi, the company’s chief executive officer.
