Oshkosh Narrows Loss in 3Q

Specialty truck maker Oshkosh Corp. said Thursday it lost $26.6 million, or 36 cents per share, in its fiscal third quarter, compared with a loss of $1.2 million, or $16.65, a year ago.

Sales fell to $1.2 billion, from $1.9 billion last year, for the quarter ended June 30, the company said in a statement.

The loss included $4.6 million, or 6 cents per share, from the company's Geesink Norba Group, which it sold earlier this month.

Commercial segment sales fell 43.6% to $138.4 million, due to a 75% decline in sales of concrete placement products as a result of lower construction activity in North America and a 20% decrease in sales of refuse collection vehicles, the company said in a statement.
