Oshkosh Profit Improves on Military Orders

Specialty truck maker Oshkosh Corp. said Thursday its fiscal first-quarter profit improved on higher military sales.

The company earned $169.6 million, or $1.87 a share, compared with a loss of $20.6 million, or 28 cents a share, for the same period last year.

Sales for the quarter ended Dec. 31 jumped 83% to $2.43 billion. Excluding special items, the company said it earned $2.10 a share.

Oshkosh makes a range of specialty access equipment, commercial, fire and emergency and military vehicles and vehicle bodies.
