Paccar Says Engine Plant Will Be Sited in Mississippi

Truck maker Paccar Inc. will site a new $400 million engine facility and technology center in Columbus, Miss.

The site “provides superb proximity to our dealers, customers and strategic supplier partners,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mark Pigott.

Paccar will begin construction on the 400,000-square-foot facility will start in mid-2007 and is due to be completed in 2009, the company said.

The facility will manufacture 12.9-liter and 9.2-liter diesel engines for Paccar units Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF vehicles and complements a Paccar engine facility in the Netherlands.
