Truck maker Paccar Inc.’s second-quarter profit rose to $99.6 million, or 27 cents a share, from $26.5 million, or 7 cents, a year ago, the company said.
Sales rose 32% to $2.46 billion, the company said Tuesday. Paccar is the parent company of U.S. truck makers Kenworth Truck Co. and Peterbilt Motors Co., and Europe-based DAF Trucks.
The company expects Class 8 sales in the U.S. and Canada to be in the range of 110,000 to 130,000 vehicles in 2010, Dan Sobic, executive vice president, said in a statement.
“Truck retail sales are still below replacement demand levels, resulting in the North American truck average fleet age of nearly seven years,” he said.
