Penske Taps Trucking Executive Richard Shearing to Lead Commercial-Vehicle Business
Penske Automotive Group said Feb. 9 it has hired trucking executive Richard Shearing to be president of its newly formed Penske Commercial Vehicles US business.
Shearing previously was with Daimler Trucks North America, where he most recently was vice president of national accounts. He will be based at Penske Commercial Vehicle’s headquarters in Dallas.
Shearing, 40, has extensive experience with Freightliner trucks, account management, strategy and a track record of building strong customer relations, which Penske said makes him “well-suited” to lead its truck operations.
“We are pleased to welcome Rich to the Penske Automotive Group team to help lead our commercial-vehicle efforts in the United States,” Chairman Roger Penske said.
Penske Commercial Vehicles operates the company’s investments in commercial truck dealerships. It acquired a majority interest in a dealership group in November and made another acquisition this month, then renamed the holding company “as we branched out to additional investments,” a company spokesman said.
Sister company Penske Logistics is No. 32 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
