Fleet telematics provider PeopleNet has added an integration with a tire pressure monitoring system from tire maker Continental Corp.
The ContiPressureCheck system is available to fleets that have deployed PeopleNet technology in their trucks, enabling drivers and back-office workers to continuously monitor tire pressure and temperature.
The CPC sensor mounts on the inner line of the tire, unlike many other TPMS sensors that are wheel or valve-mounted. This sensor placement prevents theft and damage while providing a highly accurate measure of the tire’s pressure, the companies said in a joint announcement.
“We are excited to offer our customers this solution to help keep their fleets running efficiently and their drivers safe,” said Eric Witty, a vice president at PeopleNet.
“In addition to the positive impact that correct air pressure has on driver safety, CPC will also help increase tire life and minimize downtime related to tire failures,” said Paul Williams, executive vice president at Continental Commercial Vehicle Tire.
