Pitt Ohio Rebrands Company to Stress Broader Services

Pitt Ohio is rebranding the freight company to emphasize its broad range of services by dropping the word “Express” from its name and adding a new logo.

The changes, effective Jan. 31, mark the evolution of the company beyond its foundation as a regional less-than-truckload provider. In addition, the company is introducing a new Web site at www.pittohio.com.

Since 2005, Pitt Ohio has added truckload, supply chain and small package services to adapt to changes in the marketplace and in customer needs.

“We have made the investment and commitment to take these services to the next level,” President Charles Hammel said in a Jan. 28 statement. “Therefore, we needed a re-branding effort that was more reflective of what our organization now represents.”

Because the word “Express” has been synonymous with next-day LTL service, Hammel said the name change was subtle but also made what he called “a significant statement that we are more than just LTL.”

“Our core attributes and values of reliability, dependability, quality, innovation and drive remain the same,” Chief Operating Officer James Fields said. “This will not change no matter what service we may offer. We have aggressively opened new markets and created new services for our customers, which has positioned our company as a transportation solutions provider.”

Pitt Ohio, Pittsburgh, began to evaluate the change 18 months ago by surveying employees as well as current and potential customers to evaluate the effect of a rebranding effort.

“Although we continue with our LTL service today, our modified name and logo better reflect all of the services and capabilities we have to offer our customers,” Chief Marketing Officer Geoffrey Muessig said.
