ATLANTA — An enhanced feature for tire-pressure monitoring for trucks, tractors and trailers was announced at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show on Oct. 29.
Pressure Systems International Inc. executives touted TireViewLive, available for customers aiming for a dynamic monitoring system.
Executives at the show explained that TireViewLive is meant to keep users informed by allowing fleet operators to manage tire costs, online, in real time, from a computer or connected device. It is designed as a primary solution for tire management, and its potential benefits include real-time tracking of assets.
“Up until now, most of the time, fleets are being managed by their tires. It’s time to allow fleets to start managing their tires; being able to plan their day ahead of time, not letting it be planned for you,” Pressure Systems International’s Jim Sharkey, vice president of global sales and marketing, told reporters at NACV.
Jonathan Gravell, PSI’s vice president for business development, added, “We’re piloting this with a couple of fleets, and we’re seeing 60-plus percent reduction in roadside calls with some of the groups we’re piloting with because they’re saying, ‘We can check the tires before they leave our yard, and we can be proactive about this.’ ”
According to the San Antonio-based company, “[Customers’ ability to] customize their tire management solutions from a single systems provider is increasingly important, and it optimizes their fleets' overall management.”
PSI’s TireView is a tool that provides tire pressure and temperature monitoring and problematic tire location. The system is adaptable to a trailer’s automatic tire-inflation system.
