Qualcomm’s Fiscal 2Q Earnings Improve

Wireless-services provider Qualcomm Inc. said its fiscal second-quarter earnings rose 5% to $766 million, or 47 cents a share, from $726 million, or 43 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 17.3% to $2.61 billion for the quarter ended March 30, Qualcomm said late Wednesday.

Qualcomm said it forecast a profit of between 50 and 52 cents a share for its third quarter, excluding special charges.

The company last fall renamed its wireless business unit to Qualcomm  Enterprise Services.



Qualcomm makes computer applications for the trucking industry, including communications and trailer-tracking systems.
