Quality Distribution Names Thomas White Chairman

Tank truck carrier Quality Distribution named Thomas White its new chairman, the company said late Thursday.

White — who was chief financial officer of logistics and intermodal firm Hub Group Inc. from 2002 to 2007 — is currently an operating partner at private equity firm Apollo Management, which owns interest in several trucking firms.

Apollo owned 55% of Quality’s stick as of as of April 1, according to Quality’s most recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Tampa Bay (Fla.) Business Journal reported.

White replaces Gerald Detter, who was named chairman and chief executive officer in 2005. Gary Enzor, who was promoted to be CEO last June, remains in that role.

Quality, ranked No. 35 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers, earlier this month reported a first-quarter loss of $1.9 million.
