Remodeling ATA Raises Dust

Midway through a 28-month restructuring, American Trucking Associations is taking on a new look as it streamlines its staff and refocuses on its core missions of advocacy, information services and networking.

The process has resulted in some jobs being eliminated and others redefined, as the 66-year-old trade group restructures itself for the third time in its history.

A number of ATA employees have left to take other jobs in Washington’s vibrant association community, said Kay Perkins, ATA’s director of human resources. In the first half of 1999, the association saw 32% staff turnover.
