River Horse Logistics is to buy third-party logistics provider Lynx Logistics for an undisclosed sum, the companies said.

Lynx operates a 96,000-square-foot facility in Fremont, Calif., that consists of mixed-use space, including 7,000 rack and bulk pallet locations.

Headed by founder Francisco Garcia and CEO Shane Salazar, Fremont-based Lynx focuses on medical device logistics and will expand River Horse’s West Coast operations.

“Francisco has built an impressive, state-of-the-art facility that boasts the best cargo security features in the Bay Area,” Gene Ashley, River Horse president, said in a statement. “Lynx’s specialized knowledge and capabilities will elevate our service offerings, particularly in high-value, high-tech and medical device logistics, and create new opportunities for both current and prospective clients.”

Salazar is set to oversee River Horse’s entire sales division following the merger. Salazar joined Lynx in May, having previously worked for Seko Logistics, Davaco, Crane Worldwide Logistics, Ceva Logistics and Eagle Global Logistics.

“I’ve had the privilege of knowing Shane and Francisco for several years and have seen firsthand how Lynx has grown into an industry leader, with unmatched expertise particularly within high-value and medical logistics,” Ashley said in an email to Transport Topics.

“This acquisition perfectly aligns with our long-term growth strategy to enhance our white-glove expertise and capabilities and bolster our market presence on the West Coast and beyond — looking at investments in Ohio Valley and Phoenix,” he said, adding: “By integrating Lynx’s exceptional security, certifications and operational excellence, we can extend its success across our national network, attracting new business and delivering even greater value to our customers.”

The largest facility is in Milpitas, Calif., comprising 500,000 square feet.

River Horse provides less-than-truckload and truckload shipping, freight brokerage, freight consolidation, cross-docking, warehousing, order fulfillment and managed services.

The company’s portfolio already included Houston-based multiservice logistics provider Majewski Transportation, which operates more than 40 tractors and 60 53-foot dry vans, and Wheat Ridge, Colo.-based 3PL CTS Worldwide.

Following the Lynx deal, River Horse will have about 700 employees. In total, the company operates more than 200 trucks and over 300 trailers.
