RLS Logistics opened its new food-grade ambient storage facility in Vineland, N.J., according to a Sept. 12 news release.

Located adjacent to the company’s current Vineland warehouse cold-storage facility, the new warehouse will offer customers an additional 36,000 square feet of storage space, the company said.

Rapid growth of direct-to-consumer fulfillment business led the company to reassess the storage of ambient product and packaging material taking up space in its temperature-controlled facility, RLS officials said.

The new facility allows RLS to increase cold-storage capacity by relocating material in a non-temperature-controlled environment. It also allows RLS to focus on expanding fulfillment lines, according to Ken Johnson, executive vice president of the RLS Warehousing Group.

RLS will double fulfillment output capabilities and has an expansion plan that includes an additional 30,000-square-foot warehouse, according to CEO Tony Leo.

The addition of the warehouse brings the company’s total warehousing space to 611,000 square feet nationwide, the company said.

Headquartered in Newfield, N.J., RLS Logistics is a third-generation, family-owned company that’s been in the business of handling temperature-controlled food since 1968, according to the RLS website. — Transport Topics
