Rush Reports Second-Quarter Loss

Truck dealership Rush Enterprises lost $1.5 million, or 4 cents a share, compared with net income of $6.1 million, 16 cents, in the same quarter last year.

Revenue fell 31.4% to $312.1 million, while truck segment revenue plunged to $298 million from $425.2 million, Rush said late Wednesday.

The company delivered 954 new heavy-duty trucks in the quarter, down from 1,655 a year ago; 638 new medium-duty trucks, down from 979; and 776 used trucks, down from 795 a year ago.

Parts, service and body shop sales revenue fell to $95.8 million, from $111.9 million last year.



In addition to trucks, Rush also operates a John Deere dealership and has a construction equipment segment.

The construction equipment segment’s revenue fell to $9.6 million, from $24.7 million a year ago.
