Rush Reports Third-Quarter Loss

Truck dealership Rush Enterprises said that ist third-quarter profit was $3 million, or 8 cents a share, compared with $8 million, or 21 cents, in the same quarter last year.

Revenue fell 26.9% to $413.7 million, while truck sales revenue dropped 31% to $167.4 million, Rush said late Wednesday.

The company delivered 1,030 new heavy-duty trucks in the quarter, down from 1,350 a year ago; 637 new medium-duty trucks, down from 919; and 760 used trucks, down from 936 a year ago.

Parts, service and body shop sales revenue fell to $102.8 million, from $124.1 million last year.



In addition to trucks, Rush also operates a John Deere dealership and has a construction equipment segment.

The construction equipment segment’s revenue fell to $4.4 million, from $11.7 million a year ago.
