Ryder to Manage China Operations for Italian Firm

An Italian manufacturer chose Ryder System to manage its supply chain operations in China, Ryder said late Tuesday.

Merloni TermoSanitari, an Italian manufacturer of residential and commercial heating and water heating systems and services, chose Ryder to help grow its operations in China, the company said.

In the multi-year contract, Ryder will consolidate Merloni TermoSanitari’s network from 18 distribution centers to one centralized and more than 10 regional distribution centers.

Ryder will manage all warehousing and distribution functions to include including the network of third-party logistics providers that supports outbound transportation from the distribution centers to more than 200 Merloni customer locations throughout China.

Ryder is ranked No. 5 on the 2007 Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
