Ryder to Outfit Commercial Rental Fleet With Advanced Safety Technology
Ryder System Inc. announced that all new vehicles that come into its North American commercial rental fleet now will include innovative safety technologies, such as forward-looking radar and collision mitigation systems.
The new vehicles — delivered into service this spring — will become the standard specification for Ryder’s commercial rental fleet as it responds to increasing demand from customers looking to improve fleet performance, safety and driver job satisfaction, according to Ryder's announcement. Ryder has more than 400 rental locations across the United States and Canada.
“Ryder plays an important role in advancing the safety environment on the road,” Sandy Hodes, Ryder senior vice president and deputy general counsel, said in a statement. “As an industry leader in safety and security, we recognize the importance of investing in innovative fleet technologies that enable us to make continuous improvements around safe practices and behaviors.”
The company has offered these innovative safety technologies as an available option to its ChoiceLease customers for several years, Miami-based Ryder said.
