Ryder System’s second-quarter profit rose to $62.6 million, or $1.19 per share, from $46.8 million, or 91 cents, a year ago.
Revenue rose 3% to $1.6 billion, the company said Tuesday.
Earnings included a charge of $2.9 million, or 6 cents per share, related to non-operating pension costs, Ryder said.
Ryder’s fleet management solutions unit’s earnings from continuing operations rose 16% to $88.7 million, while revenue rose 2% to $1.12 billion.
Its supply chain solutions segment’s earnings from continuing operations rose 8% to $32.7 million, with revenue up 5% to $597.2 million.
Ryder System, Miami, is the parent company of Ryder Supply Chain Solutions, which is ranked No. 10 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
