Saddle Creek Buys ProLog to Add Service

Logistics company Saddle Creek Corp. said it acquired ProLog Logistics Inc., a warehousing operator.

Saddle Creek, Lakeland, Fla., didn’t disclose the terms of the acquisition in a Dec. 16 statement. The company ranks No. 40 on the Transport Topics listing of the largest logistics firm in the United States and Canada.

“This acquisition will allow us to deepen our fulfillment capabilities, providing a broader range of services and greater value to our customers,” said David Lyons, Saddle Creek’s founder and chairman. “We’re confident that ProLog’s expertise will strengthen our service offerings in this growing market segment.”

The ProLog purchase is the second acquisition of a California-based company by Saddle Creek in the past 13 months. During November 2009, Saddle Creek bought ServiceCraft Logistics of Buena Park, Calif.

Saddle Creek said in a statement that ProLog, based in San Diego, will keep operating with its current management group and staff. In addition to San Diego, ProLog has a facility in Lexington, Ky., that provides warehousing and fulfillment.

“Retaining this effective team will provide continuity for existing customers and allow us to leverage their expertise throughout our operations,” said Cliff Otto, president of Saddle Creek.
