Saia’s Fourth-Quarter Income Declines

Saia Inc. said Wednesday its fourth-quarter net income fell 62% from a year ago to $2 million, or 15 cents a share, from $5.2 million, or 35 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 11% to $243.7 million, said Saia, the parent company of less-than-truckload carrier Saia Motor Freight Line.

For the full year, the company earned $18.3 million, or $1.31 per share, compared with a loss of $20.7 million, or $1.39, in 2006. Revenue rose 12% to $976.1 million.

Saia is ranked No. 29 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
