Schneider Makes Billionaire List

Donald J. Schneider, president of Schneider National, made it onto Forbes magazine's 1999 list of the world's richest people.

It is the first time Schneider has made the billionaire list. He is listed as having a net worth of $1.0 billion, coming in at number 458 on a list of 465.

Forbes' list appears in the July 5 issue of the magazine. The magazine said personal net worths for the ranking were calculated using company share prices and exchange rates from late April. For privately held companies, such as Schneider National, Forbes estimated what the company would be worth if it were public.

Schneider National, the nation's largest truckload carrier, had $2.7 billion in sales in 1998 and was listed at number 51 in Forbes' "500 Top Private Companies" for 1998. The company acquired two substantial carriers in July 1998: Landstar Poole and Builders Transport.

Forbes' billionaire list excludes dictators and royalty, the magazine said.
